Lucy Dacus announces new album ‘Forever is a Feeling’ and shares two new songs

Lucy Dacus has shared details of her upcoming solo album, Forever is a Feeling. To preview the record, the singer-songwriter has shared two new singles, ‘Ankles’ and ‘Limerance’.

The new record marks Dacus’ third full-length studio album and marks her first LP as a solo artist since Home Video in 2021. Significantly, she spent 2023 touring with Boygenius alongside Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers, with their debut album, The Record, topping the charts in the United Kingdom.

However, while Dacus was occupied with Boygenius duties, she was also working on Forever is a Feeling, which was written between late 2022 and the summer of 2024.

According to Dacus, the record is a personal affair that details her rollercoaster of a love life during that period, stating, “I got kicked in the head with emotions.” She elaborates, “Falling in love, falling out of love.”

Dacus also said of her journey that is chronicled in Forever is a Feeling, “You have to destroy things in order to create things. And I did destroy a really beautiful life.”

The singer-songwriter explained the poignant album title, noting, “You can’t actually capture forever. But I think we feel forever in moments. I don’t know how much time I’ve spent in forever, but I know I’ve visited.”

Forever is a Feeling boasts cover art courtesy of Will St John and features contributions from Hozier, Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Blake Mills, Bartees Strange, Madison Cunningham, Collin Pastore, Jake Finch and Melina Duterte.

Dacus is set to perform ‘Ankles’ for the first time on January 15th during an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. She has also announced plans for a North American tour in the spring, featuring support from Katie Gavin from Muna and Jasmine.4.T.

Notable dates on Dacus’ upcoming tour include outdoor shows at famous American amphitheatres such as Red Rocks in Denver and The Greek in Los Angeles. Dacus will also play at indoor theatres such as Radio City Music Hall in New York and Boston’s MGM Music Hall.
