Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino is set to direct an untitled Scotty Bowers biopic that was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The project is based on the 2017 documentary Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood which was made Matt Tyrnauer, it tells the story of previously uncelebrated Hollywood legend Bowers, whose memoir chronicled his decades going from World War II veteran to sexual procurer to the stars from the 1940s through until the 1980s.
Bowers died last year aged 96 and his incredible memoir Full Service was published in 2012 and he had not discussed the information he disclosed prior to publication but felt like when he was 92 and the stories couldn’t remain untold any longer.
Fox Searchlight began developing the movie two years ago after the documentary was released by Greenwich Entertainment and Searchlight’s director of production Richard Ruiz will oversee the project.
Director Guadagnino received a best picture Academy Award nomination in 2017 for Call Me by Your Name along with Peter Spears, Emilie Georges and Marco Morabito. His other credits include Suspiria and A Bigger Splash.
