Loyle Carner returns with new singles ‘All I Need / In My Mind’
With his first new music since 2022’s Hugo, Loyle Carner returns with two new emotive tracks, ‘All I Need’ and ‘In My Mind’. The two songs come just before what is set to be a huge summer for the British artist.
On ‘All I Need’ and ‘In My Mind’, two songs that Carner sees as a paired duo to be heard in tangent, his musical direction continues to evolve. Even way back in 2017, on his debut album, Yesterday’s Gone, or the star-making single ‘Ottolenghi’, Carner could not be easily boxed in. He has always defied genre to combine hip-hop and rap with other elements like indie, rock, and even folk-ish melodies.
He goes all in on that here with two guitar-led tracks that, according to the press release, borrow influence from artists like Fontaines DC’s new rock revival or even the warm tones and poetic melodies of Big Thief.
In Carner’s eyes, this is what he’s been working towards. The press release sharing the song said that this deeper dive into his interest in alternative music has “taken his entire career to find the confidence to explore.”
With the hope that these two songs are the beginning of Carner launching a new chapter and hopefully the first hint of a bigger project coming soon, they’re an incredibly exciting opening to his 2025 which looks set to be the hip-hop star’s biggest yet.
They also mark the start of an exciting period in his Career. Carner is billed to headline the Other Stage at Glastonbury, taking care of the Friday night slot. In 2023, Carner drew in a huge crowd to his West Holts performance, so his step up to an alternative headliner is a natural next step.
Alongside him on the Other Stage line-up are The Prodigy, shutting it down on Sunday night, and Charli XCX, bringing Brat to Worthy Farm a huge Saturday night headline slot.
