New Zealand pop star Lorde has released a new rooftop performance of her latest single, ‘Stoned At The Nail Salon‘. The track is taken from her forthcoming third album Solar Power, which is set for release on August 20th.
Lorde debuted the song on Late Night with Seth Meyers back in July to widespread acclaim. She has now followed the performance up with a stripped-back rendition live from the rooftop of the iconic New York recording studio, Electric Lady Studios.
The pop icon was joined by producer and collaborator Jack Antonoff for the version. In the video, the band are in a blissful setting, surrounded by flora and the sun. This new rooftop video follows two others by the duo – both featuring the hit title track of the album. One video went viral as the pair played amongst a violent storm and lightning in New York.
Lorde revealed last week that she doesn’t want to explain her lyrics anymore. “As I get older, I find myself saying, ‘No actually I’m not gonna explain that song’,” she said during an appearance on Hot Ones. She explained: “Not because I necessarily need it left to interpretation, but because it’s about something that’s very precious to me.”
Lorde has scheduled a mammoth tour for Solar Power next year, with a visit to the UK set for May and June. The tour will begin in Lorde’s homeland of New Zealand before heading to Australia and North America, and will finish in Europe.
