Lorde cancels first date of European tour due to illness

Lorde cancelled the opening night of her Ultrasound tour in Europe due to food poisoning.

The European leg of the tour was due to start in Rockhal in Luxembourg City on November 9th. However, it was cancelled hours before the singer was set to take to the stage, which she described as “beyond gutting”.

Taking to Instagram Stories, she shared, “Luxembourg I’m so sorry to have to tell you that I came down with ruthless food poisoning last night and am still too sick to play for you today. I’ve been resting all day hoping I’d be well enough but I can hardly stand up and you deserve more.”

The singer continued, “I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to it: our first ever Lux show, first night of Ultrasound EU and our one show with (French musician) Oklou, it’s beyond gutting.”

Lorde concluded by reiterating her sadness about being unable to perform, adding, “Please know that if there was any way I could pull it off, I’d be out there. Love from a very weak girl.”

As it stands, her European tour is set to begin at Zénith de Paris in the French capital on November 10th. She will then take Ultrasound to the UK and Ireland, where she will play Manchester’s AO Arena, London’s O2 Arena, Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, and Dublin’s RDS Simmonscourt.

The tour will then resume in mainland Europe with destinations including Bologna, Amsterdam, Brussels, Munich, Cologne, and Copenhagen ahead of Lorde concluding the run in Stockholm on December 9th.

The dates are part of her world tour in support of her fourth album, Virgin, which she launched in June with a surprise set at Glastonbury Festival.

Far Out observed of the record: “It paints a picture of the devotion she has for her career but also the strange, complex feelings she now has towards that fact, and where the line of her personal privacy and boundaries may have been crossed during her youth spent in the public eye, sharing her inner world for all to see.”

Meanwhile, Lorde has been confirmed as one of the acts for Spain’s Mad Cool Festival in July 2026 alongside Foo Fighters, Florence and the Machine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, David Byrne, Pulp, and Pixies.
