The rumours surrounding the return of pop behemoth, Lorde have finally been confirmed as the Kiwi singer-songwriter announces her first new piece of music in years with ‘Solar Power’ teaser.
“Arriving in 2021… Patience is a virtue,” reads the caption on Lorde’s website. Having waited four years for the next piece of avant-garde pop to arrive from the songwriter, we’re feeling very virtuous indeed. Her most recent record Melodrama earned a nomination for the Album of the Year Grammy and there are high hopes for another huge release.
Back in 2020, a year for which good news was rather scarce, Lorde pricked up the hopes of her fans as she suggested new music wouldn’t be too far away. “You’ll probably be pleased to know my hair is big and long again,” she told her fans via an email newsletter.
“I think after Melodrama came out I said I wouldn’t put out another record until my hair was long – both because hair takes time to grow, and I knew I needed time, and because I knew the next record would require the longest and wildest hair yet.”
Lucky fans will get at least one glimpse of Lorde in 2022 as the singer signed on to headline Primavera 2022. It follows a relatively quiet patch for Lorde creatively, having only recently released her photo book Going South.
Naturally, the singer’s fans are positively frothing at the mouth for more music from Lorde and, it would seem, they won’t have to wait too much longer.
