London Critic Circle Awards 2024: The complete winners list
At the London Critics’ Circle Awards on February 4th, the top prizes were given to Jonathan Glazer for his Holocaust-era drama The Zone of Interest.
The movie was up against some of the most successful films of 2023, including Barbie, Oppenheimer and Poor Things, but Glazer reigned supreme. He even nabbed ‘Best Director’, beating the likes of Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan.
Mica Levi and Johnnie Burn won the ‘Technical Achievement Award’ for creating the music and sound for The Zone of Interest. Both have worked with Glazer before on Under the Skin, with Levi’s collaborations with Glazer cementing them as one of the most astounding composers of the 21st century.
Elsewhere, ‘Best Actress’ was awarded to Emma Stone for her role in Poor Things, while ‘Best Actor’ was given to Andrew Scott.
The Irish actor’s emotional performance in All of Us Strangers was snubbed by the Oscars, yet he was delighted to bag an award, stating, “Never in my life have I had such heartfelt, raw responses from audiences.”
Mia McKenna-Bruce won ‘Breakthrough Performer of the Year’ for How To Have Sex, with the film’s director Molly Manning-Walker also taking home ‘The Philip French Award, Best Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker’.
