One of 2019’s breakout stars, Lizzo has been a key figure in the world of music since the release of her mega-watt bop ‘Juice’. Yet, it appears nobody can escape the wrath of Twitter.
The singer has confirmed that she will be leaving the social media platform for some time after being the victim of trolls targeting the award-winning singer.
The singer, whose album Cuz I Love You we called one of 2019’s best, wrote on Twitter: “Yeah, I can’t do this shit no more. Too many trolls. I’ll be back when I feel like it.”
The announcement comes after the singer was embittered in a Twitter feud over her weight in December. One user wrote: “Lizzo popular is because there is an obesity epidemic in America. Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are. Unfortunately, many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease.”
Lizzo, not one to keep quiet, responded: “I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love. The only person who needs to do better is you. Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Here’s the attention you ordered.”
We hope that Lizzo is back on the social media platform very soon and that trolls keep her name out of their mouth…
