Listen to Smash Mouth cover Car Sear Headrest


The long rumoured Car Seat Headrest and Smash Mouth covers have finally arrived into the world.

Today, on her SiriusXMU show, Jenny Eliscu premiered Smash Mouth’s rendition of “Something Soon” and Car Seat Headrest’s version of “Fallen Horses.” Listen to Smash Mouth’s track below (via Stereogum). The love between Car Seat Headrest and Smash Mouth began in August 2016 when Smash Mouth tweeted that ‘Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales’ from Teenage Fantasy was “One of the best songs of 2016 point blank!”.

Months later down the line, it was suggested they make a covers EP together; which both bands agreed to and Will Toledo later told Pitchfork there was mutual interest in recording covers.

Listen on Pitchfork to the first cover to be released which is Smash Mouth’s rendition of ‘Something Soon’. 

Car Seat Headrest’s new album, a re-recording of their 2011 Bandcamp album Twin Fantasy, is out tomorrow, February 16 (via Matador).

Toledo originally made the album when he was just 19 and it was a huge underground success thanks to being discovered by fans online, read Far Out’s review of the all new re-imagined Twin Fantasy.
