Listen to Bob Dylan narrate trailer for new Machine Gun Kelly album
Machine Gun Kelly has seemingly called upon a favour from Bob Dylan to announce his new album, Lost Americana.
While Dylan is yet to confirm it’s his voice, Machine Gun Kelly took to social media to share the trailer for the new album along with the caption, “Lost Americana the album. 8-8 trailer narrated by…”
In the clip, Dylan’s voice can be heard saying: “Lost Americana is a personal excavation of the American dream; a journey to find what’s been lost. This album is a love letter to those who seek to rediscover — the dreamers, the drifters, the defiant.”
“It’s a sonic map to forgotten places, a tribute to the spirit of reinvention,” Dylan also says in the 51-second clip.
He later adds towards the end of the promotional clip, “From the gold neon diners, to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty, the fog and the in between spaces where the past is reimagined and the future is sold on your own terms.”
In February, Dylan shared a video on his Instagram of Machine Gun Kelly performing at Park Avenue CDs in Orlando, Florida, in 2016.
In a video on Instagram, Machine Gun Kelly shared his dumbfounded reaction to Dylan sharing his music, telling fans, “I’m in my conversation pit in my house and having a discussion about is this the right thing or the direction for this album, I’m questioning it right. Then, in the same breath that I’m questioning it, somebody goes, ‘Bob Dylan just posted a video of you’.”
The pop-punk musician continued: “I’m like, ‘There must be another Bob Dylan’. We go on his Instagram and he posted a video. He’s just the originator of doing everything, opposite of what people wanted him to do, randomly posting a video of me back in the day rapping in a vinyl shop. I’m like, ‘What the fuck, dude’. Trust the signs, man. I’m so grateful”.
Cryptically, last month, Machine Gun Kelly hinted that he’d met Dylan backstage on his ongoing Outlaw Music Festival tour. After the singer was spotted in attendance at the Los Angeles stop, he wrote on X: “I met and had a conversation with someone last night that I never thought I’d get the honor to meet all because of a video of me rapping in a music store 10 years ago. I love music.”
