Lindsay Lohan wants to play iconic actor in new biopic
Over the past few years, Lindsay Lohan has reemerged under the spotlight, and it appears as though she has an abundance of new projects at the ready to help her reclaim her throne as Hollywood royalty, including a biopic on an iconic Swedish actor.
Lohan began her career as a child, starring in The Parent Trap in 1998, which saw her successfully portray twins separated at birth. Forced to do both British and American accents as the different characters, Lohan instantly gained acclaim, and the movie remains a beloved family classic.
After that, Lohan appeared in many other child-friendly hits, from Life Size to Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, establishing her as a teen idol. Freaky Friday and Mean Girls elevated her status even further, and it appeared that Lohan’s transition from teen to adult roles would be seamless.
Sadly, the actor found the pressures of Hollywood hard to handle, and her career quickly collapsed as she found herself in constant tabloid heat. Addiction and other personal issues seemed to be the media’s defining impression of Lohan, who failed to secure any roles worthy of note in subsequent years.
Yet, Lohan is undoubtedly talented – her early success proves this. The past few years have seen her return to the cinema with movies such as Falling for Christmas, which was really positively received – as far as Christmas movies go. Now, she’s appeared in the new Netflix release, Irish Wish.
In a new interview with Bustle, Lohan revealed that she has plans to star in a new biopic about Ann-Margret Olsson, a classic Swedish singer and actor best known for starring in movies such as Pocketful of Miracles and Newsies.
While there are no plans set in stone just yet, Lohan is eager to move the project forward. “I really want to play Ann-Margret, and we’re trying to find a writer for that story,” she explained.
Lohan said of Olsson “She’s a triple threat, and she’s an amazing woman on top of that. So I just really want to do her justice and help tell a great story for her.”
This isn’t the first time Lohan has been interested in a biopic. Rumours began circulating in 2011 regarding Lohan playing Stevie Nicks in a movie about the Fleetwood Mac singer, although they turned out to be false.
Perhaps Lohan’s interest in portraying Ann-Margret, however, could be her ticket back to mainstream Hollywood.
