Lily Allen to release new album, ‘West End Girl’, this week
Lily Allen is set to release her new album, West End Girl, on October 24th.
The album, which is set to arrive via BMG, will contain 14 brand new tracks that Allen began working on over a ten-day period in December 2024 in Los Angeles, before completing the project in London and New York.
For West End Girl, Allen worked in collaboration with her musical director, Blue May. May and Allen are both listed as executive producers on the album alongside Seb Chew and Kito. Meanwhile, the cover art and illustrations were made by Spanish artist Nieves González.
“I’m nervous”, Allen admitted of the forthcoming release. “The record is vulnerable in a way that my music perhaps hasn’t been before – certainly not over the course of a whole album. I’ve tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am in my life now,” she added.
Allen continued, “At the same time, I’ve used shared experiences as the basis for songs which try to delve into why we humans behave as we do, so the record is a mixture of fact and fiction which I hope serves as a reminder of how stoic yet also how frail we humans can be. In that respect I think it’s very much an album about the complexities of relationships and how we all navigate them. It’s a story…….”
West End Girl is Allen’s first studio album since No Shame in 2018. Since then, she has moved into acting and is also a co-host of the BBC podcast, Miss Me?, with Miquita Oliver. Allen’s imminent return to music was seemingly on the horizon last month when she announced plans to step away from the podcast.
Despite the album arriving in a matter of days, there is no tracklist available for West End Girl and no singles have been released.
