Lil Uzi Vert rushed to New York City hospital after sudden illness
Lil Uzi Vert was rushed to the hospital following an emergency on April 21st. The Philadelphia rapper was in New York City when paramedics received a 911 call in Lower Manhattan.
Uzi was reportedly wheeled out of the reception of a luxury building on a stretcher at around 2:30pm on April 21st, before being transferred to an ambulance. Security guards held up several black umbrellas to block the view of paparazzi and bystanders.
Their girlfriend, fellow rapper JT of City Girls, was beside them at the time. According to TMZ, Uzi was conscious when brought out of the apartment and into the hospital.
They were taken to the emergency room and kept there overnight. As of the morning of April 22nd, Uzi was still in the hospital.
Uzi released their last album, Eternal Atake 2, in November 2024. The project debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart with 59,000 units in its first week. It was the follow-up to 2023’s The Pink Tape and the sequel to the chart-topping 2020 album, Eternal Atake.
During an interview with Complex last year, Uzi spoke about their relationship with fame. “Fame is like air, it’s just there,” they said. “I always wanted to be that person like, ‘No fuck fame.’ Nah, fame is great, but it’s also even better to have your peace. That’s amazing. If you can figure out both of those, then you need to call my phone. Fame could change your life overnight. Fame could give you an outlet.”
Uzi added, “There’s a lot of people I know, literally artists, that if it wasn’t for fame, they might not be here today. So, to some people, fame is weird. Some people, fame is amazing. To me, it’s like air.”
Lil Uzi Vert is yet to comment directly on his hospitalisation.
