Liam Gallagher tells the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to “fuck off”

After Oasis recently made the list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, former frontman Liam Gallagher has explained why he’s disinterested in being inducted.

Oasis were announced as a nominee alongside acts such as Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner, Mariah Carey, and Peter Frampton. After news broke, Gallagher previously took to X, formerly Twitter, to write: “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG x”.

Now, in a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the singer discussed his disapproval with the list of nominees, stating: “As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favour and fuck off. It’s like putting me in the rap hall of fame, and I don’t want to be part of anything that mentally disturbed.”

Gallagher also expressed some disdain towards the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s leadership group, who are responsible for putting forward potential nominees every year.

He said, “I’ve done more for rock ‘n’ roll than half of them clowns on that board, so it’s all a load of bollocks.”

The official set of nominees will be announced in April ahead of a formal ceremony, streamed on Disney+, towards the end of the year. A voting body of more than 1000 artists, historians and members of the music industry will be in charge of putting together the list of inductees.

Gallagher’s new collaborative album with John Squire is set to be released on March 1st. He previously said of the album: “I can’t wait for people to hear the album. I think the people that are into the Stone Roses and Oasis and that kinda thing, I think they’ll fucking love it. It’s spiritual, it’s crucial. LG x”.

Meanwhile, the former Stone Roses guitarist added: “It was really inspiring to have those Knebworth gigs fresh in my mind as I started writing. Then it was a case of trying to steer it away from all being too rocky, and trying to mix up the sentiments as well. I like the way that in some parts, it’s quite melancholic and it can make you well up, but there are other parts that are kind of irreverent, rude or crude. There’s a little bit of everything in there, I think it’s a really good mix. I had a hunch that we’d sound good together, but I wasn’t prepared for it to be such a good fit.”
