Liam Gallagher to be awarded first-ever 'Rock Icon' award at MTV EMAs

At this year’s MTV European Music Awards, which take place this weekend, Liam Gallagher will be honoured with the first-ever ‘Rock Icon’ award and will also give a very special performance.

This year’s event will be hosted by Becky G and take place in Seville, Spain, on Sunday 3rd November. The event will see performances from some of the music world’s biggest stars, including, Dua Lipa, Halsey and Akon, with a special performance from Green Day also to be shared during the night.

Liam Gallagher will also take to the stage and perform not only one of his solo songs, likely from his hit album Why Me? Why Not?, as well as a hit from Oasis’ back catalogue.

EMAs official Twitter account confirmed that the Oasis frontman would be the first-ever artist to be recognised with the Rock Icon Award. “The legendary Liam Gallagher is our 2019 Rock Icon! Don’t miss his #MTVEMA performance live from Seville Sunday 3 Nov!!” the caption reads.

Liam naturally shared the image too. But instead of his usual rants, he let the words ‘Rock Icon’ do the talking and instead just left the caption as a sign-off, “LG x”
