Liam Gallagher hits back following complaints about his voice at Wembley Stadium
Liam Gallagher took to the stage at Wembley on September 21st to perform ahead of the heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. Dubois ended up taking the fight in the fifth round, but one of the reputations to take the biggest hit was Liam Gallagher.
Gallagher performed a string of Oasis’ biggest hits from the band’s debut album Definitely Maybe. He performed the band’s timeless tracks, ‘Rock n Roll Star’, ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ and ‘Supersonic’. While many people might have been excited by the performance as it gave a taste of what the band’s reunion shows might look like, many Oasis fans were left disgruntled, complaining about the sound of Gallagher’s voice.
People took to social media to voice their disdain towards the performance, asking for refunds for their Oasis tickets. “If you bought Oasis tickets. Get a refund. Liam Gallagher just performed, and he sounds shit,” wrote one viewer. Another said, “How many people looking for refunds after listening to this utter garbage. Liam Gallagher is done. Sounds like some dodgy impersonator.”
Liam Gallagher has responded to the complaints, taking to social media to let people know their comments don’t bother him and saying that if people want to sell their tickets, they should.
“To all those SHITCUNTS who were crying about my ANGELIC TONES last night you ain’t real fans your just IMPOSTERS,” he wrote, “And if you do have tickets you wanna get rid off I’ll gladly take them off your hands we don’t want the likes of you at our concerts nxt year any LFUCKING.”
Someone who is a fan of Liam Gallagher’s voice is his brother, Noel. In a recently released documentary for the anniversary of their debut album, Definitely Maybe, Noel said why Liam was imperative when it came to achieving the right sound for the album. “When I would sing a song, it would sound good. When he sung it, it sounded great,” he said, “I can’t sing ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’, ‘Rock n Roll Star’ and all that. I don’t have the same attitude as him. My voice is half a Guinness on a Tuesday—it’s all right. Liam’s is ten shots of tequila on a Friday.”
The Oasis reunion is set to take place next year, with the band playing sold-out shows in Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. They are some of the most in-demand tickets out there, regardless of complaints about Liam’s voice.
