Liam Gallagher criticises Rock and Roll Hall of Fame following Oasis’ nomination

Liam Gallagher has condemned the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after Oasis were nominated as part of the ‘Class of 2024’.

On February 10th, the Rock Hall revealed that Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne, Sinead O’Connor, Mariah Carey, Sade, Mary J. Blige, Jane’s Addiction, Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Lenny Kravitz and Kool & the Gang were nominated to be part of this year’s ceremony.

To qualify for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it needs to have been 25 years since they released their first recording. Despite being eligible since 2019, this marks the first time that Oasis have been shortlisted to become part of the prestigious club.

In the past, several acts such as Talking Heads have buried the hatchet for one-night-only to reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. However, if Oasis are inducted, it seems unlikely that Liam will be involved. Taking to X, Gallagher wrote: “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG x”.

The official ‘Class of 2024’ will be announced in April ahead of a formal ceremony, streamed on Disney+, towards the end of the year. A voting body of more than 1000 artists, historians and members of the music industry will be in charge of putting together the list of inductees.

In contrast to Gallagher’s response, Osbourne said: “I’m deeply honoured to receive this news from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined.”

Osbourne, who was previously inducted with Black Sabbath, is now among a select few that have been nominated or inducted twice. All four members of The Beatles have been nominated as both as a band and solo musicians, as have Crosby, Stills and Nash.
