Liam Gallagher and John Squire tease project
Liam Gallagher and John Squire teased their collaborative project again by sharing a video clip and a new website.
A collaboration by the pair was first hinted at by Gallagher in June 2022, when he brought out Squire, the lead guitarist of The Stone Roses, at his historic Knebworth shows. Together, they performed the Oasis staple ‘Champagne Supernova’. One of the frontman’s tweets at the time read: “Supergroup incoming”.
Following this, in a September 2022 interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, Gallagher maintained that he was “definitely” going to work with Squire. Asked for more information, the former Oasis vocalist responded: “Yeah. Serious, man. But we’ve got things to do first, and he’s got things to clear up and that. But yeah, I’m definitely going to do summat at some point.”
After things went quiet, Gallagher took to his Twitter this October and asserted that the joint album by the two Manchester heroes would be “the best record since Revolver“, in reference to the 1966 album by The Beatles.
Now, Gallagher has posted a video on Instagram of Squire playing throughout the years, soundtracked by The Stone Roses’ ‘Love Spreads’. It also features Gallagher saying: “John Squire, without a doubt, the best guitarist of his generation and in the world in my opinion”.
Not done there, Gallagher also shared a link to the minimalist new website, which can be found in his Instagram bio. At present, it is only a landing page featuring both musicians’ names, inviting fans to sign up for a mailing list.
There is no further information about the collaboration between Liam Gallagher and John Squire.
In other Liam Gallagher news, with the release of Knebworth 22 earlier this year, he achieved his fifth solo number one on the Official Albums Chart. The record features the performance of ‘Champagne Supernova’ with John Squire.
