Leonardo DiCaprio’s name appears in email from Jeffrey Epstein to Peter Mandelson

Jeffrey Epstein mentioned Leonardo DiCaprio‘s name in a recently released email to Peter Mandelson by the Department of Justice.

The email is one of the millions of files that were released on January 30th, 2025, by the governmental body. It relates to Epstein enquiring about potential overseas brand opportunities, which he claimed was on behalf of DiCaprio.

In an email, sent on June 12th, 2009, Epstein wrote to Mandelson, “Can you think of anyone in India china, japan„ etc, that might want the endorsement of Leonardo DiCaprio„ russia etc.. cars etc„ he is looking for non-u.s. products to endorse to make some momey [sic]”.

Epstein was jailed in 2008 for soliciting underage sex and handed an 18-month sentence under a work-release programme. He was arrested again in 2019 on sex-trafficking charges and died before his trial.

At the time of the email, Mandelson, a former Labour Party politician, was the Business Secretary for the UK government.

There is no evidence to suggest that Epstein and DiCaprio had a relationship.

In 2024, The Guardian reported that Johanna Sjoberg, who accused Epstein of sex crimes, said in her deposition that Epstein often bragged about being on the phone to Hollywood A-listers. However, she never met any of these stars.

Sjoberg said per a deposition log, “I did not meet them, no. When I spoke about them, it was when I was massaging him, and he would get off – he would be on the phone a lot at that time, and one time he said, oh, that was Leonardo [DiCaprio], or, that was Cate Blanchett, or Bruce Willis. That kind of thing.”

Representatives for DiCaprio told The Guardian that no calls ever took place between him and Epstein. Additionally, a representative for Blanchett also denied that she ever spoke with Epstein on the phone or in person.

Following the release of the latest emails, Mandelson, who previously resigned as the US Ambassador due to his links to Epstein in September, has quit the Labour Party and announced his intention to retire from the House of Lords. It is alleged that Mandelson sent Epstein confidential information while he was in government.

A Downing Street spokesperson said of his resignation, “It is right that Peter Mandelson will no longer be a member of the House of Lords. As the prime minister said this morning, Peter Mandelson let his country down.”
