Led Zeppelin have announced a brand-new feature-length documentary that focuses on the band’s rocketing journey to the pinnacle of blues-rock.
The feature entitled Becoming Led Zeppelin, was announced by director Bernard MacMahon this morning (August 2nd).
MacMahon described the forthcoming feature as a ground-breaking look at the band’s mystified early years, stating: “Becoming Led Zeppelin is a film that no one thought could be made. The band’s meteoric rise to stardom was swift and virtually undocumented.”
Later adding: “Through an intense search across the globe and years of restoration of the visual and audio archive found, this story is finally able to be told.”
The documentary comes with the backing of the band, who, for the first time in 50 years, have granted crews unprecedented access, and all surviving members have keenly participated in the project.
MacMahon is known for his previous work on the award-winning mini-series, American Epic, which saw the director charter the journey of music scouts in the roaring twenties as they sought to discover the talents that would become the voice of America.
As of yet, Becoming Led Zeppelin does not have an official release date, but we are informed that filming has wrapped and currently, Altitude Film Sales and Submarine Entertainment are co-repping the sale of the film, thus further details are expected for eager fans in the coming weeks.
