Larry David labels Donald Trump a “sociopath”
With election year underway in the US, Larry David has labelled Donald Trump a “sociopath” for what he has done to the country. Trump had previously served as the President starting in 2016 and is currently in the midst of his re-election campaign.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm mastermind said that Trump had made a mockery of the political system, telling CNN, “He’s thrown 250 years of democracy out the window by not accepting the results of [the election]. I mean, it’s so crazy. He’s such a sociopath. He’s so insane”.
After Biden was declared President in 2020, Trump did not accept his loss and insisted that any votes in his competitor’s favour were fraudulent. This led to a massive divide among the American people, with many siding with Trump to prevent the election from being “stolen.”
David called this behaviour sickening, stating, “He just couldn’t admit to losing. And we know he lost! He knows he lost! And look how he’s fooled everybody. He’s convinced all these people that he didn‘t lose. He’s such a sick man. He is so sick”.
Of course, this was not the first time that Trump had come under fire during his term as President. Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, Trump’s spread of misinformation led to the creators of Twitter banning him from the platform. While Elon Musk stated that the former President was welcome back on social media sites, Trump has not returned.
One of the major fallouts from Trump’s bid to stop the steal involved many right-wing protestors infiltrating the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021. Many protestors forced their way into the chambers, leading many of the politicians within the building to be evacuated from the building.
David has also received backlash from Trump supporters, including politician Marjorie Taylor Greene, who accused the comedian of mocking conservative beliefs. Outside of his political beliefs, David is beginning work on the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which he has said will be its last.
