Lankum cancel North American tour: “We did our absolute best to save these dates”
Irish folk band Lankum have cancelled their upcoming North American tour due to unforeseen circumstances.
The group, who released their most recent album False Lankum in 2023, were due to begin their headline tour at Pop Montreal in Montreal, Quebec, on September 26th. They were also scheduled to play shows in Toronto, Vancouver, and Seattle.
Taking to Instagram, the band informed fans on September 16th that these shows will no longer be going ahead, writing, “Due to unforeseen circumstances we will no longer be able to travel to Canada and the US for our upcoming concerts in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Seattle.”
They also stressed that the reasoning for the cancellation is a private matter, adding, “The exact reason for this cancellation we would like to keep private, but please be assured we did our absolute best to save these dates.”
Lankum continued, “We understand that many people will have already made travel plans, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this causes. The health and wellbeing of our band members is our priority at this point and your support is deeply appreciated. Hopefully we get to see each other again soon.”
The Mercury-nominated band also confirmed that full refunds are available for fans from their point of purchase.
Lankum performed at a series of festivals across Europe this summer. In a glowing review of their performance at South Facing Festival in London in July, Far Out wrote, “The final rendition of ‘Go Dig My Grave’ punches goosebumps into my skin each and every time, as Radie Peat’s voice is unlike any other I’ve heard, being both angelic and darkly emotion.”
