Lana Del Rey previews new song ‘Looking For America’ which is inspired by mass shootings
Following the news of two more devastating mass shootings in the United States of America, Lana Del Rey has previewed her new song ‘Looking For America’.
Over the weekend 20 people were killed in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Just hours later, in a separate and unrelated attack, a lone gunman entered a bar in Dayton, Ohio and killed nine people.
As many leading figures have called for change, Lana Del Rey has joined by previewing her new song which has been inspired by the rapid growing cases of mass shootings. Teaming up with Jack Antonoff who plays guitar on the song, Del Rey sings: “I’m still looking for my own version of America / One without the guns, the flag can freely fly / No bombs in the sky, only fireworks and you and I.”
Posting a preview clip of the track, she said: “Hi folks came back early from Montecito with my brother this morning and asked Jack Antonoff to come into town because I had a song on my mind that I wanted to write,” in an Instagram caption. “Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video.”
