Kylie Minogue to play Pyramid Stage 'legend' slot at Glastonbury 2019

Kylie Minogue has been handed the coveted Sunday teatime ‘legend’ slot at Glastonbury festival 2019.

The iconic festival slot usually draws the biggest crowds of the weekend and, over the years, the Pyramid Stage has seen the likes of Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton take the lead.

Minogue revealed the news through her Twitter account, she said: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019,” she wrote.

“It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”

The performance is likely to be an emotional one with Minogue finally making her Glastonbury debut after cancelling her 2005 headline slot due to her breast cancer diagnosis. That year Basement Jaxx replaced her as headliner and, in tribute, performed a cover version of ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’.

“We are delighted to announce that Kylie is finally bringing her show to Glastonbury,” says a tweet from the official Glastonbury account. “She’ll play the legendary Sunday afternoon slot at next year’s festival. And we cannot wait.”

Festival organiser Emily Eavis said she was “delighted” with the news that Kylie will perform at the festival, adding: “We cannot wait.”
