Kurt Vile has shared his new single ‘One Trick Ponies’ taken from his forthcoming new album.
On the new number, a focal feature of the new record, Vile returns to emotive, descriptive best as he sings: “Loved you all a long, long while/ Looked down into a deep, dark well/ Called all your names, they echoed down for miles and miles/ And all that other mystical, well, never-you-mind.”
Vile has also recruited the help of Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa and Farmer Dave Scher who provide backing vocals on the chorus.
Alongside the release of the new song, Vile will also hit the road this fall on an extensive global tour, with support from The Violators, where fans can expect a further taste of new music in addition to the band’s iconic catalogue.
Commencing October 12 in Hamburg, Germany, the tour runs through mainland Europe, before arriving in major UK cities, including two consecutive nights at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on November 6 and 7. For the North American leg, which kicks off November 24 in Boston, the band have partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket sold will go to support the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) work defending and protecting individual rights and liberties.
