The friendship of Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett seems to be taking a professional collaborative turn as the two hit the studio together in North Melbourne’s Newmarket Studios.
Philadelphia-born Vile, who is currently touring through Barnett’s native Australia in support of 2015 record b’lieve i’m goin down…, will play a host of major shows including a slot at the Golden Plains festival.
With little word on the new project, The Newmarket website claims that the ‘collaborative compilation’ is still in need of mixing, but the pair have been working alongside in-house engineer and producer Callum Barter.
Barnett, who is in the middle of writing the a follow-up to her debut Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, claimed last year that the new record is “half-written” and “could just be an album with me and a piano, so who knows?…” Which, of course, it won’t be.
