Kurt Cobain given writing credit on Lil Nas X new song 'Panini'

American rapper, singer, and songwriter Lil Nas X has awarded Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain a songwriting credit on his new song ‘Panini’.

The musician, who rose to fame earlier this year when his country rap song ‘Old Town Road’ went viral due to the “Yeehaw Challenge” meme on the social media, has wound up “accidentally” handing Cobain a co-writing credit.

Apparently, Lil Nas X was unaware that his new song ‘Panini’ sampled Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom’ chorus, explaining that the similarities were purely a coincidence and, in fact, the comparisons have now opened his ears to Cobain’s grunge band.

“One of the craziest things about ‘Panini’ is it introduced me to Nirvana’s album Nevermind,” Lil Nas X told Zane Lowe on Apple Beats 1. “It’s like I always seen the cover but I never actually listened to it. And people was like, ‘Wow, he sampled Nirvana.’ I was like, no. It’s like, I didn’t realise I was using almost the exact same melody.”

Here it is… make your own mind up, I’m too cynical to cast judgement on this one:
