Kneecap slam Donald Trump and call for release of the Epstein files during Wembley Arena show
During their headline performance at Wembley Arena on September 18th, Kneecap took shots at Donald Trump during his state visit and called for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
The performance at Wembley marked the Irish rap trio’s biggest headline show in England to date, with support coming from Gurriers and Jamali Blackman.
According to Irish public broadcaster RTÉ, a message displayed before Kneecap took to the stage at Wembley read, “Starmer welcomed Isaac Herzog (Israel president) to this city like a king last week. Today Trump is here, the man who permits the slaughter.”
Trump arrived in the United Kingdom for a state visit on September 16th and flew back to the United States last night.
During the show, RTE also said that a member of Kneecap told the sold-out crowd in London, “Is Donald Trump in fucking England? For fucks sake.” Then Móglaí Bap intervened to add, “Release the fucking files,” seemingly in reference to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Mo Chara reportedly led the crowd through chants of “fuck the Royal Family” and “fuck Keir Starmer”, who previously demanded that Glastonbury remove Kneecap from its line-up in June.
Before Kneecap took to the stage, a film was played by Massive Attack on the atrocities in Gaza, and the trip-hop pioneers then delivered a speech with director Ben Jamal. Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja said (per NME): “Thank you for watching the film. Thank you for having us here tonight. Thank you to Kneecap for having us here tonight. Thank them for their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in spite of the political weaponisation of the criminal justice system against them.
Both Kneecap and Massive Attack recently put their names behind the No Music For Genocide campaign, alongside 400 other artists, requesting that their music is geo-blocked on streaming platforms in Israel.
Kneecap’s Mo Chara, who was charged with a terror offence relating to his alleged behaviour at a concert last November, is set to appear in court on September 26th after a judge adjourned making a ruling on the case at his last hearing in August.
