Kneecap announce new album ‘Fenian’

Kneecap have confirmed details of their second album, Fenian.

Their new record, set to arrive through Heavenly Records, will arrive on April 24th, 2026, and promises to be their response to the legal challenges that have engulfed the band’s Mo Chara over the last 12 months, who was charged with terrorism for allegedly waving a Hezbollah flag at a London concert.

Mo Chara, real name Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, was back in court earlier this month despite having the terror case against him dismissed in September due to a legal timing error. The Director of Public Prosecutions subsequently appealed the decision, and judgment is currently being reserved.

In a statement on social media, Kneecap explained how recent events have shaped the new album, writing, “They tried to stop us by branding Kneecap ‘terrorists’, with cancellations, with statements from the Prime Minister himself. We had all the motivation we needed…this isn’t a swift reaction, but a considered response to those that tried to silence us. And failed.”

They also explained their decision to name the album Fenian in a nod to their homeland, “Inspired by, and proudly named ‘Fenian’, who were warriors in Irish folklore, and later a derogatory term for the Irish. Now we’re using it to name everyone speaking truth to power.”

Kneecap added, “After 800 years of colonisation, they thought the Irish language would die, it didn’t. Thanks to Muintir na Gaeltachta, and all the Gaels who refused to let their culture and language be destroyed.”

They signed off their statement by writing, “And KNEECAP is much the same…we haven’t gone away. The Paddies are back.”

Tonight (January 28th), Kneecap will release their new single, ‘Liars Tale’, to the world. The track will premiere on BBC Radio 1, before arriving on streaming services, and the video will drop on YouTube.

Kneecap are set to have another huge summer on the cards. They have the biggest headline show of their career lined up at Crystal Palace Park in London, and will also headline Boomtown Festival, as well as appear at Reading and Leeds and Primavera Sound in both Barcelona and Porto.
