Kneecap announce huge new UK tour

Kneecap has announced details of a new UK tour that will take them across the nation in November.

The Irish rap trio will perform a string of ten dates, beginning on November 14th at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth before culminating on November 30th in Glasgow at the OVO Hydro.

These new dates are separate from those that the band has previously announced, including their Wembley Arena date in London in September and their two nights at the 3Arena in Dublin on December 16th and 17th, both of which have already sold out.

The news of the fresh tour comes amid a turbulent period for the trio, in which they have been embroiled in legal trouble ever since footage emerged of them at a historic concert from 2023 allegedly condoning terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah, which circulated online following their Coachella set, which saw the band advocate for the Palestinian people.

The investigation led to band member Mo Chara being charged with a terror offence in May. He initially appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court on June 18th and has been ordered to return for another hearing on August 20th.

As a result of the police investigation, Kneecap lost their slots at TRNSMT Festival and the Eden Project in Cornwall before Chara was formally charged. In response, the band staged their own separate concert at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on July 8th to make up for their TRNSMT absence.

Additionally, their set at Glastonbury Festival wasn’t broadcast live on the BBC, and an edited version was uploaded onto iPlayer following its conclusion. During the show, the band addressed the legal situation, telling the audience, “Young Americans agree with us. Young people around the world knows what’s going on”.

They also led the crowd through a chant of “fuck Keir Starmer” after the Prime Minister said their set at Glastonbury was “not appropriate” and called on the festival to cancel them from the line-up.

Before heading out on their new UK tour, Kneecap are set to play a series of dates in Europe across the course of the summer, including in Oslo, Helsinki, Budapest, and Amsterdam. They also remain scheduled to support Fontaines DC at Wythenshawe Park on August 15th; however, Manchester City Council are currently evaluating safety concerns surrounding their appearance.

Tickets for Kneecap’s UK tour will go on presale from July 16th, before becoming available for general sale on July 18th at 10am.
