South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun denies relationship with Kim Sae-ron occurred when she was underage

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has denied being in a relationship with the late fellow actor Kim Sae-ron while she was underage.

Kim Soo-hyun denied the allegations through tears at a press conference on March 31st, following Kim Sae-ron’s tragic death by apparent suicide back in February.

The actor, who recently starred in the Netflix hit Queen of Tears, emotionally said: “I can’t admit to something that I didn’t do,” while insisting that the pair’s relationship had only occurred between 2019 and 2020 when Kim Sae-ron was an adult, according to the BBC.

The allegations against Kim Soo-hyun centre around the claims that he started dating the actor when she was only 15 years old, and that prior to her death, his agency was pressuring her to repay an unspecified debt over a drunk-driving incident in 2022.

Kim Soo-hyun had been considered one of South Korea’s most promising rising film stars up until that incident three years ago, and due to the current allegations, his career has now been even more severely stunted.

He added: “Except for the fact that both of us were actors, our relationship was just like that of any other ordinary couple,” despite the claims that the pair’s history had stretched back over six years, when Kim Sae-ron was still a minor.

The controversy came to light in a YouTube video which presented pictures and videos which supposedly prove this, with Kim Sae-ron’s family attorney then providing evidence of chat history between the actors dating back to 2016, when she was 16 years old.

In response, Kim Soo-hyun has filed criminal cases against Kim Sae-ron’s family and the creator of the YouTube video which published the accusations.
