Kim Gordon releases new single, ‘I’m A Man’

Kim Gordon has unveiled ‘I’m A Man’, the second single from her upcoming solo record, The Collective, set for release on March 8th.

Following the release of the cinematic ‘Bye Bye‘ earlier this year, Gordon delves further into darkness with ‘I’m A Man’. The track finds the former Sonic Youth singer contemplating masculinity over droning, repetitive soundscapes. “It’s good enough for Nancy,” she repeats.

Alex Ross Perry directed the accompanying music video for the new single, which stars Gordon’s daughter, Coco Gordon Moore, and Conor Fay. Shots of the pair are spliced with old film clips and Gordon strumming her guitar.

The song marks the second glimpse at Gordon’s forthcoming second solo effort, The Collective. Recorded in Los Angeles, the new record combines the creative forces of Gordon and producer Justin Raisen, whose background in trap brings a new edge to her sound.

The album will mark Gordon’s first full-length solo outing in five years, following the release of her debut, No Home Record, in 2019. Raisen also produced her debut.

Gordon is planning to hit the road following the release of the new album, with dates lined up across the United States for the end of March. She is set to take to stages in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more. As of yet, the former Sonic Youth musician is yet to announce plans to tour Europe and the United Kingdom.

The Collective is set for release on March 8th via Matador. Watch the new music video for ‘I’m A Man’, directed by Alex Ross Perry, below.
