The psyche-funk trio Khruangbin have shared a brand new video for their single ‘Pelota’, taken from their upcoming new record Mordechai. Watch it below.
The new album ‘Mordechai’ arrives on June 26th via Dead Oceans and will include the two previously shared songs ‘Time (You and I)’ and ‘So We Won’t Forget’. The latest track sees the band in imperious form.
Khruangbin have made a name for themselves and swirling psychedelic funk band like no other. The trio of Laura Lee Ochoa (bass), Mark Speer (guitar), and Donald “DJ” Johnson (drums) are more than capable of transporting you to another realm as they ar putting your feet firmly on the dance floor.
The latest single, ‘Pelota’ sees a continuation of that trend and puts the band at the very top of their game. “A Texan band with a Thai name singing a song in Spanish, loosely based on a Japanese movie,” says Khruangbin of the track which begins with a flurry of stunning vocals from the band.
Two years on from the band’s breakthrough album Con Todo El Mundo and with their joint EP with Leon Bridges behind them, the trio look set to make the new decade their own.
There’s something incredibly likeable about Khruangbin. While they toe the line of being labelled ‘quirky’, the truth is they play the songs which come naturally to them, a mixture of sounds, sights and sunshine.
