Kevin Spacey demands release of the Epstein files: “The truth can’t come soon enough”
Kevin Spacey has demanded the release of files which allegedly name the associates of the disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying, “The truth can’t come soon enough.”
Last year, the actor’s name was mentioned alongside the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Cate Blanchett in unsealed court documents related to Epstein’s crimes.
Although this is not evidence that any of these stars were remotely involved in the offender’s sex trafficking ring, Spacey has often been considered on social media as guilty by association, due to allegations of sexual misconduct against the actor, which he was found not guilty of by a UK jury.
Subsequently, he has hit back at the delayed release of the files, which could potentially exonerate himself and others mentioned in the initial documents. The actor wrote on X on July 15th: “Release the Epstein files. All of them.”
He continued: “For those of us with nothing to fear, the truth can’t come soon enough,” before adding, “I hate to make this about me — but the media already has,” hitting back at speculation that he could be involved in the case on a more serious level.
Despite these claims, Spacey has always maintained his innocence in relation to Epstein and his own sexual misconduct case, for which he was found not guilty in 2022.
The Epstein files have attracted controversy in recent days after Donald Trump’s US government and the FBI announced last week that no such classified documents exist, despite the president claiming that he would release them during his election campaign last year.
Spacey has only worked sporadically since allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him in 2017, most famously losing his role in All the Money in the World, which he had been cast in at the time the accusations surfaced.
