Kermit the Frog issues heartfelt Ozzy Osbourne tribute: “No one rocked harder”

Kermit the Frog is the next celebrity to issue a moving tribute to his good friend, Ozzy Osbourne, after his passing on July 22nd.

Osbourne’s death was confirmed by his family, who have chosen not to reveal his cause of death at this time and have also asked for privacy. His passing occurred just weeks after the Black Sabbath farewell show was held on July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham. In addition to performing a solo set, Osbourne reunited with Black Sabbath’s Bill Ward, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler for the first time in more than 20 years, and raised almost $200 million for charity.

“No one rocked harder than the great Ozzy Osbourne,” his note started. Kermit continued, “We loved working with him on our album ‘Kermit: Unpigged’. He recorded ‘Born to Be Wild’ with Miss Piggy – the perfect song for both of them!”

Kermit was clear that all the other muppets felt this closely to the metal legend, too, writing, “Every time we bumped into Ozzy over the years, he made us feel just as cool as he was.”

One such incident took place on Jimmy Kimmel together. Both Ozzy and his wife, Sharon, sat next to muppet Fozzie Bear, who was the next guest following the couple’s segment. A few years earlier, he met with Kermit when they both appeared as part of the Golden Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth II.

Kermit’s heartfelt note, liked by over 70,000 on Instagram, concluded with the statement, “We loved having a friend like Ozzy Osbourne and we feel so lucky to have known him, worked with him and experienced his music for so many decades.”

The official post’s caption read, “Thanks to the Prince of Darkness for the music and the memories. Remembering our friend Ozzy Osbourne.” The image promises that the words come directly from the pad of Kermit the Frog.

The tragic news of Osbourne’s passing was confirmed in a statement on July 22nd, as Osbourne’s family wrote on social media, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
