Kelly Osbourne describes Ozzy Osbourne as “the best friend I ever had”

Kelly Osbourne has paid tribute to her late father Ozzy Osbourne, describing him as her “best friend”.

The Osbourne family announced news of the Black Sabbath frontman’s passing, aged 76, in a joint statement on July 22nd. Their message reads, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

No cause of death has been revealed. However, it was later reported that air ambulance paramedics spent two hours trying to save his life at his family home in Buckinghamshire, England.

Now, in a new post online, his daughter has honoured her late father. “I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had,” Kelly wrote on Instagram Stories in a short statement.

Ozzy’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert, which took place at Villa Park in Birmingham earlier this month, was a memorable affair for the entire Osbourne clan. Not only did it give him one last chance to perform in-front of his adoring fans, but Kelly also got engaged to her long-term partner, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson.

Following the concert, she wrote on Instagram about the emotional day: “I can’t even wright this without tears streaming down my face! Thank you to everyone who came to support my dad.” She also said of the special occasion: “Thank you to the fans who without we are nothing! My dad got his moment in the sun! He was able to say thank you and good bye in the most beautiful way.”

Her mother, Sharon Osbourne, has also used Instagram to communicate following the loss of her husband, thanking Gavin Rossdale and BBC Radio 1 presenter Jack Saunders for their warm tributes to Ozzy.

Meanwhile, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi appeared on ITV News to honour his friend and discuss his band’s final show earlier this month, which marked the first time all four original members had performed together in over 20 years.

Iommi said of Back to the Beginning: “It meant everything to him. This is what we built up for, for that big ending where he could see all the people and we could all see all the people, and close it in that way. But we didn’t expect to close it so quick with Ozz; we didn’t expect him to go that quick, really. Well, we didn’t expect him to go. So it’s been a shock.”
