Katy J Pearson has shared the video for her stunning track, ‘Miracle’.
The track featured on her recent debut album, Return, which arrived through Heavenly Recordings at the end of last year. Pearson was yet to release ‘Miracle’ as a single, and she’s recruited comedian Joe Lycett to direct the wonderfully surreal video which sees her head to the sea to fish out a toy cow. There’s also an addition of some shanty singers at the end for good measure.
Pearson’s voice is what the song hangs on to, and it gulfs you into its grasp as she effortlessly shows off her immense range that is nothing short of heavenly. There’s a tranquillity that runs through the dreamy track, which leads to a euphoric crescendo that Pearson guides you through as she repetitively sings the line, “And All that we needed was a miracle.”
Pearson says: “This video was an absolute dream to make. Joe was just such a pleasure to work with and I’m so happy he listened to my whacky ideas about cows and the coast. Was such a special time and I hope everybody enjoys it as much as I did making it. Big thanks to Muriel the cow, of course, who was the star of the show!”
Meanwhile, Lycett adds: “I’m a huge fan of Katy and her latest album Return so to direct a music video for Miracle, one of my favourite tracks from the record, was a dream come true.
“We have been planning this since last summer and think we pulled off something ridiculous yet strangely beautiful and I’m wildly proud of the results. Katy is mesmerising and her album is an extraordinary piece of art.”
If you slept on Pearson’s album, then ‘Miracle’ is the perfect place to jump into her repertoire and get a taste for Return. If it’s good enough for Joe Lycett, then it’s good enough for you. Check out the video below.
