Kate Nash releases pro-trans single slamming trans-exclusionary radical feminists

Kate Nash has released a new, pro-trans protest single and battle cry that details the way that transphobia is running rampant in our current societal climate.

The ‘Foundations’ singer has released the five-minute indie-rock single to detail real-world threats that transphobia has on trans people, cis people, and society at large.

She uses the track to offer her own take on the state of feminism today, after detailing the “serious dangers” women face, mainly at the hands of cis men. She sings: “Using feminism to erase the rights of others and endanger them is inherently un-feminist / In my opinion it is the responsibility of a feminist to be progressive / To learn from previous waves but to always be pushing towards a new one.”

She takes aim at specific politicians and personalities in power. She says, “By aligning yourself with the likes of Peterson, Elon and Trump / You empower the mentality that women serve a purpose and that’s to be controlled and fucked.”

This comes as Trump signed an executive order in which “sex” is defined strictly by biological characteristics at birth, erasing federal recognition of transgender identities. The UK Supreme Court ruled similarly; many celebrities reacted against the bio-essentialist law.

She details how this phenomenon impacts men, too. Her lyrics detail how “men with power can do what they want,” but any other man is left behind in the patriarchy. For example, she says, “Men that struggle to express emotion / Or are living under the constant financial, social & familial pressures of what society tells them being masculine is, well apparently they can just kill themselves /Suicide is the biggest killer in men under 50.”

Nash made headlines last year for protesting outside Live Nation and Spotify, claiming, “the music industry has failed artists.” She also joined OnlyFans to help fund her United Kingdom and European tour.
