Kasabian announce new album, ‘Act III’, ahead of ‘Saturday Night Live UK’ appearance
Kasabian have returned with a new single, ‘Great Pretender’, and confirmed their latest album, Act III.
The upcoming record is set to be released on July 17th, the same month they play the biggest headline London show of their career at Finsbury Park.
‘Great Pretender’ is the second single from their new record, following ‘Hippie Sunshine’, which they shared last year.
According to frontman Serge Pizzorno, ‘Great Pretender’ “is about imposter syndrome not as a weakness, but as a sign you’re on the edge of something real.”
Pizzorno, who also co-produced the track along with the rest of the album with Mick Ralph at The Sergery and Club Ralph, added of the new single, “It’s that feeling right before you step on stage, when the lights go down and it’s now or never.”
Kasabian have a busy summer ahead, in addition to headlining Finsbury Park on July 4th, they will also headline TRNSMT in Glasgow, Boardmasters in Cornwall and the Thursday night at Leeds Festival.
On the continent, Kasabian will appear at festivals including Rock Werchter in Belgium, Madrid’s Mad Cool, Noisy Festival in Napoli and Low Festival in Torrevieja.
The Leicester natives will have an opportunity to perform ‘Great Pretender’ in front of the nation this weekend, when they take to the stage on Saturday Night Live UK, set to be guest-hosted by Riz Ahmed.
In a recent exclusive interview with Far Out, Saturday Night Live UK cast member Hammed Animashaun spoke about the importance of bringing live music back to Saturday night television, which he views as “only a good thing”.
