Joseph Kosinski reveals why Simone Ashley was cut from ‘F1’

Director Joseph Kosinki has revealed why the character played by Simone Ashley was mostly removed from the final cut of his racing drama F1, starring Brad Pitt.

Despite Ashley, who has previously starred in Bridgerton, being announced as a member of the cast in July last year, early premieres of the film have revealed that her role has been largely cut from the film, prompting speculation as to what may have happened.

However, Kosinski quickly put any such rumours to bed when he recently told People: “It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use. There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn’t make into the final cut.”

Despite this, the filmmaker was happy to praise the actor for her contribution to the movie, as he added: “But Simone, she’s an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to work with her again.”

Ashley herself has not yet commented in a public capacity about being removed from the film, but she said in a previous interview last year that the experience of shooting the racing drama was “crazy.”

She said: “I have a very small part, but I’m grateful to be in that movie. I got to experience many Grand Prixs. I don’t think I’ll ever do anything like that again.”

Elsewhere, at the film’s premiere in Mexico earlier this week, lead actor Pitt said he would be open to doing more high-octane stunts, possibly in a movie alongside Tom Cruise, so long as it didn’t involve jumping out of planes.

F1 will be released internationally on June 25th, and on June 27th in the US and Canada.
