Brad Pitt is open to working with Tom Cruise again as long as it doesn’t involve planes
Brad Pitt has revealed that he would be open to working with Tom Cruise again, but joked that the offer would only stand so long as it didn’t involve plane stunts.
The actor was speaking to E! News ahead of the premiere of his new movie F1 in Mexico, where he said that he would reunite with the Mission: Impossible star, whom he starred opposite in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire, so long as he wouldn’t be launched into the sky.
Pitt joked: “Well, I’m not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that,” adding, “So when he does something again that’s on the ground, [then yes].”
However, Pitt and Cruise do have more industry connections than just their 31-year-old blockbuster, as the former’s latest effort F1 is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who were also behind Cruise’s record-breaking Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.
Kosinksi revealed in a previous interview that he had originally planned for the pair to reunite on screen in his film Ford v Ferrari in 2019. However, studio budgets would not accommodate for the two Hollywood actors’ inevitable sky-high wages, and so Matt Damon and Christian Bale ended up landing the gig instead.
Asked what Cruise could have brought to his new film F1 in place of Pitt, Kosinski replied: “Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled.” He added: “They both have the natural talent for driving,” before noting with regard to the Top Gun star, “But yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more.”
F1 will be released internationally on June 25th, and on June 27th in the US and Canada.
