It has been confirmed that Jordan Peele will work alongside Issa Rae on the new supernatural film Sinkhole.
Universal Studios managed to outbid no fewer than ten different rivals to secure the rights for the new film, a project which is said to offer a “commentary on the human condition through the lens of female identity.”
The film is being created as an adaptation of Leyna Krow’s 2011 short story of the same name, one that is focused around a young family who move into a house despite understanding that a sinkhole is located in the back garden of the property. You can read the full story, here.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film has been described as “a genre piece that engages on the question of female perfection and identity.”
Peele is attached to the project through his Monkeypaw Productions whole Rae’s Issa Rae Productions will co-produce the film for Universal. The film marks the second collaboration between Peele and Universal following the intensely successful 2017 film Get Out which claimed victory at the Academy Awards.
For Sinkhole, the likes of Win Rosenfeld, Montrel McKay, Sara Rastogi and Alex Davis-Lawrence have all been confirmed as producers. Sara Scott, the senior VP of production for Universal, will oversee the project.
