Jonathan Richman announces new album ‘Only Frozen Sky Anyway’ and US tour

Jonathan Richman has announced the release of a new album and an upcoming tour.

The album, Only Frozen Sky Anyway, will be released on July 16th, 2025, and was produced by Richman’s longtime collaborator and Talking Heads member Jerry Harrison. Harrison had also produced Richman’s previous work, Want to Visit My Inner House?, as well as playing in Richman’s band, The Modern Lovers.

The album includes 11 original Jonathan Richman songs, and a cover of the Bee Gees’ ‘Night Fever’. Richman has released two songs from the upcoming record, ‘I Was Just A Piece Of Frozen Sky Anyway’ and ‘O Guitar’.

The album precedes a North American tour that has kicked off this summer, before taking a brief break and returning for a much bigger leg during the autumn. The 19-leg tour kicks off in Idaho on October 3rd, before finishing at the Alderney Landing Theatre in Canada’s Dartmouth on November 1st.
