Jonathan Majors makes surprise appearance at ‘Magazine Dreams’ screening
Jonathan Majors made a surprise appearance at the screening of his new movie, Magazine Dreams, at AMC Screen Unscreen on March 10th as he attempts to rebuild his career following a conviction for domestic violence.
On December 18th, 2023, a six-person jury in New York found Majors guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of a further charge of harassment of Grace Jabbari. Additionally, the actor was found not guilty of one count of assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated assault in the second degree.
As a result of his conviction, Magazine Dreams, purchased by Spotlight following the Sundance Film Festival in 2023, was dropped by its distributor. However, it has since been picked up by Briarcliff Entertainment ahead of a March 21st release.
Ahead of the film’s release later this month, it was screened at AMC Screen Unscreen, which shows a mystery unreleased movie to audiences, and Majors delivered a surprise speech to those in attendance about the movie.
Majors told the crowd: “First, I want to say thank you, you guys, thank you so much. I’m so happy that people are going to see this thing.”
“I learned a lot in this process of making it, of getting it out, of falling down and getting back up and finally getting it out with the help of Briarcliff,” Majors added.
He continued: “I do believe this film is a love letter to filmmaking, a love letter to character pieces, a love letter to humanity. Please, if you are moved by the film, if you see something in the film that speaks to you, if there’s anything that makes you go, ‘Hmm, interesting, interesting’, please tell somebody that will tell somebody that will tell somebody.”
In the film, Majors stars as Killian Maddox, an aspiring bodybuilder who uses steroids during his quest for success.
