Jonathan Majors assault trial reaches guilty verdict

A jury in New York has found Marvel and Creed III actor Jonathan Majors guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of a further charge of harassment. A six-person jury delivered their verdict on Majors on Monday, December 12th, after four hours of consideration.

Majors sat in the courtroom with his attorneys, family and girlfriend, Meagan Good, as the verdict was read. The actor was found not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

He is set to be sentenced on February 6th for the charges he has been found guilty of. Majors had been charged with four separate counts of various assault-related crimes after he called 911 in March earlier this year when he found his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari, unconscious in their home.

When police found injuries on Jabbari, Majors was arrested before he pleaded innocent to all charges. Jabbari said that Majors had caused the injuries in an altercation many hours before she was found unconscious.

Details of the altercation suggested that Jabbari had seen a romantic text message on Majors’ phone to another person, and the actor had assaulted her when she tried to take his phone from him.

The first three charges against Majors all relate to this incident in a private car, while the fourth is for harassment and relates to a further allegation from Jabbari.

Jabbari did not bring the charges against Majors herself; instead, they were brought by the state of New York in a criminal trial, as opposed to one of a civil nature.
