Johnny Depp to star in Ti West’s ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’

Johnny Depp is set to star in director Ti West’s upcoming adaptation, Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.

The upcoming festive movie is in the works at Paramount and has been given the scheduled release date of November 13th, 2026.

According to Deadline, the film is yet to be fully signed off by Paramount, but is in the final stage of negotiations with Andrea Riseborough, also set to appear in the movie. Nathaniel Halpern has written the script, and Emma Watts is on board as a producer.

This will mark the most noteworthy role of Depp’s career since he returned to the realm of acting following his lengthy, well-publicised defamation legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, which concluded in 2022.

Depp has also recently wrapped up production on the upcoming action movie, Day Drinker, which also stars Penélope Cruz and is directed by Marc Webb.

Per IMDB, the synopsis for Day Drinker reads: “An enigmatic stranger forms an unlikely bond with a grieving bartender who lost her lover, their lives intertwining in unexpected ways.”

Notably, West, the director behind the X movie series, is not the only filmmaker who is lining up an adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel. Nosferatu director Robert Eggers is also making his own Christmas Carol movie at Warner Bros, with Willem Dafoe set to star as Scrooge.

Meanwhile, Depp recently made a surprise appearance earlier this month when he joined Patti Smith at the Palladium in London for a 50th anniversary concert in celebration of her classic album, Horses. Together, the pair played a version of ‘People Have The Power’.
