In a spectacular development in the John Wick franchise, it has been confirmed that a fifth edition of the film will be shot back-to-back with the fourth effort.
The now-iconic neo-noir action-thriller films, which first launched in 2014, famously tells the story of a retired deadly hitman who is hellbent on seeking vengeance for the killing of a dog given to him by his wife before she shortly passed away.
Following the success of the first film, is was quickly followed by two sequels with Keanu Reeves reprising his lead role to major commercial and critical success. Now, as fans prepare for the fourth edition of the franchise, Lionsgate has made the surprise admission that a fifth effort will also be on the way.
“We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two instalments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022,” studio CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed in a new interview with Deadline.
“We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 and 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year,” he added.
Lionsgate have currently pencilled in a potential release date of May 27, 2022, for John Wick 4.
