The final recorded song from the late, great country singer John Prine has been released and it’s a heartbreaker. You can listen to ‘I Remember Everything’ below.
The track remains the final recording Prine ever made and has been brought to life following help from producer Dave Cobb. The stripped-back acoustic effort is vintage Prine.
As well as being a poignant song, the track comes complete with a video made out of personal home video footage, taking a look at the singer’s life away from the spotlight.
Last night saw a livestream be held in Prine’s honour, celebrating his undoubted contribution to music. Titled Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine, the show featured contributions from Bill Murray, Sturgill Simpson and Kacey Musgraves.
The stream has raised funds for three charities including NAMI, Alive and Make the Road New York.
Prine sadly died on April 7th following complications after contracting coronavirus in March. He was 73 years old and leaves behind his wife Fiona Whelan Prine.
As ever, with great artists, Prine also leaves behind his work, and now there’s one more piece of it, enjoy ‘I Remember Everything’ below.
