Whenever Martin Scorsese makes a new film, most fans around the world wait in eager anticipation to witness the master’s artistic vision. The director of masterpieces like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull has now moved on to another project titled Killers of the Flower Moon, which will be based on David Grann’s eponymous book.
Set during the “Reign of Terror” in Oklahoma in the 1920s, the upcoming western crime drama will attempt to capture the nuances of a physical as well as cultural landscape that is dominated by violence. For a while now, Killers of the Flower Moon has been gaining traction on social media for all the exciting additions and developments that were revealed.
The film already has a stellar cast, including the likes of Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jesse Plemons. After the recent announcement of Brendan Fraser joining the team, Scorsese bolstered the ranks with the addition of yet another veteran actor. The celebrated artist John Lithgow is set to play the role of Prosecutor Leaward in Scorsese’s new project.
“We are thrilled to finally start production on Killers of the Flower Moon in Oklahoma,” Scorsese said while announcing the project earlier this year. “To be able to tell this story on the land where these events took place is incredibly important and critical to allowing us to portray an accurate depiction of the time and people.”
Adding, “We’re grateful to Apple, the Oklahoma Film and Music Office and The Osage Nation, especially all our Osage consultants and cultural advisors, as we prepare for this shoot. We’re excited to start working with our local cast and crew to bring this story to life on screen and immortalise a time in American history that should not be forgotten.”
A potential release date has not yet been pencilled in.
