Jimmy Kimmel responds to Donald Trump’s calling for him to be fired: “I’ll go when you go”

Jimmy Kimmel has hit back at Donald Trump‘s latest calls for Jimmy Kimmel Live to be taken off air.

In September, Kimmel was temporarily suspended by ABC following a backlash to comments he made regarding Trump’s reaction to the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Trump publicly celebrated Kimmel’s suspension at the time, and was dismayed when he eventually returned to air, writing on Truth Social, “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back.”

This week, the pair’s feud has been revived. In recent episodes, Kimmel has been poking fun at Trump over his reluctance to release the files relating to Jeffrey Epstein, which led to another outburst on Truth Social.

Trump’s rant began, “Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?”

He continued, “Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”

On the November 20th episode, Kimmel responded and said he’s now “lost count” of the number of times that Trump has taken a swing at him, revealing it was his wife who woke him up to the news of his latest outburst.

“She’s got her phone. She goes, ‘Um, Trump tweeted you should be fired again.’ I was like, ‘Oh.’ And then I went downstairs and made bagels for the kids. Talk about a snowflake, this guy,” he said of Trump.

Kimmel then said, “Every five weeks, he flips out and wants me fired. If you got this many threats from a neighbour, you’d have no problem getting a restraining order. The judge would be like, ‘Yeah, sounds like the guy’s nuts.’”

He then noted that Trump’s comments were made literally minutes after the show ended, prompting him to joke, “Thanks for watching us on TV instead of on YouTube, we appreciate that. And I’ll tell you, it’s viewers like you who keep us on the air, ironically.”

Kimmel then offered Trump a deal for them to both walk away from their respective positions, telling him, “Mr President, I admire your tenacity. If you’re watching tonight, which I presume you are, how about this: I’ll go when you go, OK?”

Kimmel concluded by referencing a recent derogatory remark Trump made to a reporter, adding, “We’ll be a team. Let’s ride off into the sunset together like Butch Cassidy and the Suntan Kid. And until then, if I may borrow a phrase from you: Quiet, piggy.”
